Meet Marie Masferrer
Marie Masferrer is a proud native of Appalachia with family roots tracing back to the American Revolution. Her grandmother, who raised 13 children with only a fourth-grade education, instilled in her family a deep respect for learning and service. Every one of her children went on to earn at least one college degree and work in professions dedicated to helping others — a legacy that continues to inspire Marie today.
Marie's Story
From an early age, Marie was taught to always stand up for what is right. Whether it’s confronting bullies and racists who seek to pull books from children’s hands or challenging developers willing to sacrifice the health and well-being of communities for profit, Marie stands firm for the people of Manatee County.

Marie and her husband made District 71 their home two decades ago, choosing Manatee County for its natural beauty and strong sense of community. She dedicated 12 years to teaching in Manatee County classrooms and libraries and currently works in Hillsborough County schools. The Masferrers are active members of Holy Cross Parish in Palmetto, and Marie spent 10 years protecting local wildlife with the Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch and Shorebird Monitoring program.

As a Democrat in Florida, Marie knows she may not always be in the majority, but she’s undeterred. She is committed to fighting through political noise and rhetoric to focus on real solutions, always answering calls and listening to the concerns of the people she represents. Marie believes protecting the health of Florida’s families, communities and children is a fight worth taking on.

Marie Masferrer is calling on Floridians to join her movement to take back the state for the people — to remind developers and demagogues alike that citizens are paying attention and ready for change.
